Christmas Parade

During Christmas time, you should know by now that we have an annual parade hosted by the City of Springfield. Bands play, companies make floats, and you can see Santa in his sleigh. You stand on the side of the street for an hour and get to meet all sorts of people. As we all know, that is very 2019, so for 2020, Springfield is changing some things for everyone’s safety!

This year, there won’t be a “parade” per se, but we will definitely be celebrating Christmas! It will be a driving tour of Downtown Springfield during the season of the Festival of Lights, which is from November 21 through December 31. It will be set up across Jordan Valley Park, Founders Park, Park Central Square, Springfield Expo Center lot, and Jubilee Park. The bands will be performing on the 12th of December only. Kickapoo, Central, Drury, Parkview, Strafford, and Willard will each do a 20-30 minute show. There will be lots of small businesses there to support our community. Larger companies, such as Kum & Go and the Downtown Springfield CID will be sponsoring the new “parade”. There will be lots of family fun and a promise of great memories to be made!

Even though 2020 has looked a lot different than other years, the City of Springfield is still very determined to end this year on a high note! Our Christmas celebrations will be just as good as in years past, and we might be able to make new traditions!
