Ruth Batter Ginsburg’s Life and Legacy

Ruth Batter Ginsburg's Life and Legacy

Ruth Batter Ginsburg (RBG) passed away on September 18, 2020, nearly two months ago, due to complications of metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was a strong woman who always fought for what was right. As a Supreme Court Justice, her absence has made room for another Justice.

One of her famous sayings is, “When I’m sometimes asked when will there be enough, [women on the Supreme Court], and I say, ‘When there are nine,’ people are shocked. But there’d been nine men, and nobody’s ever raised a question about that.”

RBG was also known for her dissents. A dissent is written when a judge does not agree with the Supreme Court’s ruling.  RBG’s legacy was to always be fair. She fought and won for women and men’s rights alike. She taught us to be calm and fight for the thing that you care about.
