Student Spotlight: Nick Thompson
Nick Thompson
Many of you may have heard about the Cherokee archer who set the new SPS record for the highest ever points scored in a meet. Having scored 287 out of 300 points, he obtained a nearly perfect score!
Well, his name is Nick Thompson. He is a seventh-grader here at Cherokee and has been doing archery for 3 years. SPS has only had archery initiated as a competitive sport for 3 years, and this is Nick’s first year competing. Nick wanted to start archery because he loved to bow-hunt. Bow-hunting made Nick decide to join the archery team at Cherokee.
Nick will be representing Cherokee at the archery championship in Branson later this year. He has had a great season and is looking forward to the state tournament with much excitement.
We encourage you to be just as involved as he is and maybe even set a new record! Don’t be afraid to join a club or sport just because of your nerves. Jump in at Cherokee and be sure to say congratulations to Nick in the hallway. Go Indians!
