Movie Review: Christmas Vacation

The holiday season is here so we decided to give you guys a movie review, that as Cousin Eddy would say, is “Something really nice.” *wink* That’s right, it’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. This movie was one of my favorites since the beginning. It is the crown jewel of the Griswald family vacation movies, and it’s the hap-hap-happiest Christmas movie ever.

I’m surprised that a lot of people have not seen this movie. If any of you want to see a great Christmas movie, I would totally recommend seeing this Christmas movie. I think this movie has great acting. What movie starring Chevy Chase was bad? (I’m guaranteeing a comment on this article correcting me!) It also has a young Johnny Galecki (who went on to star in the TV show The Big Bang Theory). How could this get better?

I honestly think this movie is hilarious. I love it (if you don’t like this movie, why are you still here?). I quote this movie all the time, but especially around the holidays.  Also, a major plot point is centered around a pool, no joke a swimming pool. But hey at least Clark gets enough money to buy his pool after all. If I had heard that the movie centered around buying a swimming pool, I would have opted out of watching the movie right then and there, but I didn’t. I stuck around and laughed my tail off.

One of the funniest things that most people don’t even know, was that it was shot in July, in Hollywood! While the whole cast was “shivering” they were actually sweating up a storm! Also, if you look closely, especially when Bethany and Louis enter, the cameras shake a little, but it’s not just the cameras. It’s a mini earthquake going on! Interestingly, if you’re in Cleveland around Christmas time there is a replica of the Griswald house complete with all the Christmas lights!

This movie not only is on my top movie list, but it is tied for my favorite Christmas movie with Elf. I watch my favorite Christmas movies all year round. Christmas is definitely my favorite time of year, and why not celebrate with this movie.  If you haven’t watched this movie yet, I highly recommend it to all and I hope you enjoy it.
