How YOU can help save the Earth at Cherokee!

Remember to RECYCLE!

Are you wondering how you can help save our Earth? Well, I’m here to tell you! Our Earth is becoming a dump and landfills are piling higher and higher by the day. The trash is even spreading to our oceans. Soon, people won’t be able to remember what the Earth once looked like. Surprisingly, each person throws away 7 pounds of waste a day. That’s 2,555 pounds a year! For only 1 person! This is the only planet we have and we are using it like we have another one to go to. Many people are oblivious that our Earth is turning into a trash can. Here are some ways YOU can help save our Earth, right here at Cherokee.

The easiest way to help save our planet is recycling. You may see recycling bins in your classes. When you use scratch paper in math, recycle it! Don’t throw it away. When you finish drinking out of your water bottle, recycle it! A plastic bottle takes 450 years to decompose, but it’s never gone. Remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Another way you can help save the environment at our school is to not leave water running. Don’t flush the toilet more than once for “fun”. When you have to get a drink, get a short drink or bring a reusable water bottle. A third way you can help is by bringing reusable containers in your lunchbox. If you buy your lunch at school, try to finish all of your food instead of wasting it. Lastly, when you are out a lunch walk or you’re walking home, pick up any trash you see. It may seem gross, but it will be worth it in the end. Make a move! Help save our planet!
