And the winner is . . . Projekt 1065! This book has won out of twelve other books for being the best in the opinion of middle school students living all over the state. If anyone is looking for a fast-paced, thrilling novel based on the time period of World War II, then be sure to give this book a try!
The main thing that readers would enjoy about Projekt 1065 is that it provides a lot of entertainment and is sure to keep you hooked. With the main character being the son of two spies from Ireland living in Germany, posing as advocates for their country, with their son playing a crucial role in their mission, you know that this book is bound to have your heart pounding and your mind spinning the entire time you read it. The author, Alan Gratz, provides so much suspense throughout the book, that you don’t even realize that you’ve been holding your breath until you start feeling light-headed! If you are looking for a book chalked full of action and intensity, this is the book for you.
Another thing that will draw readers in about the book is the genuine history behind it. I’d consider myself pretty knowledgeable about events that took place in World War II, but this book still taught me things. And not just a few things, a lot! Alan Gratz is great at doing so much research that you get a deep concept about the topics he writes about. After reading this book, I had a thorough concept of what being in the Hitler Youth was like and the consequences you suffered if you didn’t join. If you want to learn a lot of history, this book is just what you need.
My final reason for why people would enjoy this book is because of the amusement that comes with reading it. Even though the book is about some very serious topics, Alan Gratz finds a way to add some comical humor into his books. In addition to keeping me on the edge of my seat, this book had me laughing until the very last page.
I loved this book. I would give it a rating of five out of five stars. If you are a fan of historical fiction, visit the school library and check out a copy. I guarantee you will enjoy it if you give it a chance.
