On Friday, March 23, 2018, 3 students from Cherokee left for Branson for the Archery state tournament and did an amazing job.
Audrey White an 8th grader here at Cherokee placed first in the 8th girl’s division, Evan Regan another 8th grader placed 2nd in the 8th boy’s division. We also had one 7th grader Parker Lambeth, who place higher than anyone in all-city and got first in the 7th boy’s division at state. The competition was held in Branson, Missouri. Overall the Cherokee Archery team placed 2nd in the all-city and was only 69 points away from going to the State tournament as a team. Coach Gray ( archery, basketball, track and P.E. coach) informed me that future head coach Tara Scott is very excited to have the incoming archery team and can’t wait for next years season. Coach Gray says that the incoming archery teams look very promising.
Coach Gray has been a great coach at Cherokee for a very long time and although we are sad to see him leave we are very happy for him as he is retiring, I think anyone who has got the chance to work with Coach Gray would agree that he is an amazing coach and is dearly loved here at Cherokee.
