Korea’s first female president has been officially impeached. Impeachment is being charged with misconduct made against the holder of a public office, such as a president. This impeachment definitely surprised many when the press got their hands the information.

The reason for her impeachment is because she allowed someone of a lower power have access to edit speeches, assign people to jobs, and make political decisions. They are also said to be responsible for pressuring the country’s major company, like Samsung, to give millions of dollars to a nonprofit organization started by Choi, the friend of the Korean president, Park Geun-Hye.
Pro and anti-Park protesters outside the courtroom where the decision being made went crazy. The chaos among the people caused the death of two people.

Her served terms might get cut short, only getting to serve four out of her five years, by this information. How the press got this information is getting their hands on a tablet with conversations and documented information about confrontation about the issue addressed above. The information in the tablet said that Choi was secretly running the government through Park. The tablet also released information about the jailing of Samsung Electronics, evaluating many politicians and businessmen, and now removal of the head of state.

A prosecutor says they managed to get 70 million dollars to Choi nonprofit organization, which served as the facade for their private funding. Although Park claims she never did it for personal gains.
Although this all started when Park rose to power, with the election in 2012. Voters came to her in the memory of her father, who was a military dictator. Her political life started after her mother’s assassination, she was studying in Paris but came back to act as the first lady in her late twenties.
She won the election when her opponent was accused online. Which is ironic in her case. Now, South Korea must re-vote and it will sometime in early May. We will see what will happen then.
